The short version
- Offsite Ads are Etsy's ads for your listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Bing, YouTube and partner sites. You pay nothing for clicks, only a fee when an ad leads to a sale.
- The fee is 15% of the order (item, shipping and gift wrap) for shops under US$10,000 a year, or 12% once you pass that. It is capped at US$100 per order.
- A sale counts if the shopper clicked an ad and bought from your shop within 30 days.
- Under US$10,000 you can opt out in Shop Manager. After that, Offsite Ads are required for good, so price every product so an ad sale still makes money.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads?
Etsy Offsite Ads are ads that Etsy buys for your listings on other websites, such as Google Shopping, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Bing, YouTube and publishing partners. Etsy chooses which of your listings to show and where. You don't set a budget and you can't pick the listings. Instead of paying per click, you pay a fee only when someone clicks an ad and then buys from your shop within 30 days. Etsy calls that an attributed order.
Offsite Ads are different from Etsy Ads, which show your listings inside Etsy's own search results. Etsy Ads are optional, run on a daily budget you choose, and charge per click.
How much do Etsy Offsite Ads cost?
| Your shop's sales | Offsite Ads fee | Can you opt out? |
|---|---|---|
| Under US$10,000 in every 365-day period so far | 15% of the attributed order | Yes, any time |
| US$10,000 or more in any 365-day period | 12% of the attributed order | No, required for the life of the shop |
| Any shop | Never more than US$100 per order |
From Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy and help center, checked September 30, 2026. The order amount includes the item price, shipping and gift wrap. For US sellers it excludes sales tax; for sellers outside the US it includes tax that is built into listing prices.
The fee comes on top of Etsy's normal fees. For a US shop that's roughly 9.5% of the order plus $0.45, so an Offsite Ads sale costs you about 21.5% to 24.5% of the order in fees instead of 9.5%.
What does an Offsite Ads sale leave you?
Take a $25 mug with $5 shipping, $6 of materials and packaging, and a $5 label. On a normal sale, Etsy's fees are $3.30 and you keep $15.70. If the buyer came through an Offsite Ad, the 15% fee adds $4.50 and you keep $11.20, about 29% less profit on that order.

It depends on your margin. The ads are free until they sell something, and they bring buyers you would not reach through Etsy search. But on low-margin products, the fee can take most or all of the profit from an ad sale:
| Example product | Order total | Profit, normal sale | Offsite Ads fee (15%) | Profit, ad sale (15%) | Profit, ad sale (12%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $12 printed tote bag | $15.50 | $1.58 | $2.32 | -$0.75 | -$0.28 |
| $10 soy candle | $14.00 | $2.22 | $2.10 | $0.12 | $0.54 |
| $25 mug (our calculator example) | $30.00 | $15.70 | $4.50 | $11.20 | $12.10 |
| $60 art print, framed | $68.00 | $35.09 | $10.20 | $24.89 | $26.93 |
| $900 dining table | $900.00 | $144.05 | $100.00 | $44.05 | $44.05 |
Example numbers. US shop, no sales tax. Profit = order total minus Etsy's standard fees (6.5% transaction, 3% + $0.25 processing, $0.20 listing), materials and the shipping label. The Offsite Ads fee is capped at $100, which is why the table's fee stops at $100.
The pattern: cheap, low-margin items suffer most, because 15% of a small order is a big share of a small profit. Expensive items benefit from the US$100 cap: on the $900 table the fee is 11% of the order, not 15%.
| Offsite Ads usually make sense when | Consider opting out (if you still can) when |
|---|---|
| Your profit per order is well above 15% of the order total | An ad sale leaves you close to zero or at a loss |
| You have capacity for more orders | You're already at capacity or have long production times |
| Your average order is high, so the US$100 cap helps | Most orders are small, one-item sales |
| You want reach beyond Etsy search while you're new | You'd rather control ad spend with Etsy Ads or your own ads |
How do you opt out of Etsy Offsite Ads?
- Open Shop ManagerOn etsy.com, go to your Shop Manager.
- Go to Settings, then Offsite AdsThe Offsite Ads page also shows your ad revenue, fees, clicks and which listings sold through ads.
- Select Opt out of Offsite AdsThis is only available if your shop has never made US$10,000 in a 365-day period. You can turn them back on from the same page.
Opting out doesn't cancel fees on orders already attributed. A shopper who clicked an ad before you opted out can still count for up to 30 days. And once your shop reaches US$10,000 in sales in any 365-day period, the opt-out disappears permanently.
How should you price for Offsite Ads?
Since you can't choose which orders come from ads, set each price so that an ad sale still covers your costs. Add the ad fee to Etsy's percentage fees when you work out your break-even price:
For the mug example: without ads the break-even price is $7.65; with a 15% ad fee it is $10.17. Then add the profit you want on top. If the price that survives an ad sale is more than your buyers will pay, that product is a candidate for opting out while you still can, or for a cheaper supplier or bundle.
Check the Offsite Ads page in Shop Manager every month. It shows which listings sell through ads. If one product keeps selling through ads at a loss, reprice it first.
Offsite Ads checklist
- Work out profit on an ad sale for every product, at 15% (or 12% if you're over US$10,000).
- Reprice anything that loses money on an ad sale, or bundle it with a higher-margin item.
- Decide on opting out before you reach US$10,000, while the choice is still yours.
- Keep shipping close to the real label cost: the fee is charged on shipping too.
- Track ad sales separately from normal sales so you can see what the ads really earn you.

What's the difference between Etsy Ads and Offsite Ads?
Etsy Ads promote your listings inside Etsy's search results, are optional, and charge per click from a daily budget you set. Offsite Ads run on other websites, charge only when an ad leads to a sale, and become required once your shop reaches US$10,000 in yearly sales.
Fees and rules are from Etsy's published policies and help center as of September 30, 2026 and are shown for planning. Etsy changes its fees from time to time; your Offsite Ads page and Payment account show the exact fees on each order. Example products and costs are illustrative.
