The short version
- Facebook Marketplace charges no fee on local pickup sales. On shipped orders paid through Facebook checkout, the selling fee is 10% with a $0.80 minimum.
- The fee includes payment processing, and there is no listing fee and no subscription.
- Our calculator applies the 10% to the whole order, including the shipping the buyer pays: a $30 item with $5 shipping costs $3.50 in fees.
- We found no change to the fee in 2025 or 2026. The last increase, from 5% (with a $0.40 minimum), took effect on April 15, 2024.
What are Facebook Marketplace's fees in 2026?
| Sale type | Selling fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Local pickup, paid in person | None | No platform fee. Payment is between you and the buyer |
| Shipped, Facebook checkout | 10% of the order, minimum $0.80 | Includes payment processing, deducted from your payout |

As of October 2026. The shipped fee is reported in Meta's seller help text; see the note below on checking it in your own account.
Meta's own help pages for this fee load only in a logged-in browser, so we could not read them automatically. The 10% and $0.80 figures come from seller guides that quote Meta's text and were last checked in 2026. Confirm the rate on your next shipped order in your Marketplace seller settings before you change your prices.
How do Facebook Marketplace fees work?
Marketplace has two ways to sell. With local pickup, you meet the buyer, they pay you directly, and Facebook takes nothing. With shipped orders, the buyer pays at Facebook checkout, you print a label and ship, and Facebook deducts its selling fee from your payout.
Because of the $0.80 minimum, the fee is a bigger share of very small orders: any shipped order of $8 or less pays $0.80, so a $5 order loses 16%.
What do the fees look like on $5, $10, $50 and $200 sales?
| Order total | Selling fee | Fee as % of order | You receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5.00 | $0.80 | 16% | $4.20 |
| $10.00 | $1.00 | 10% | $9.00 |
| $50.00 | $5.00 | 10% | $45.00 |
| $200.00 | $20.00 | 10% | $180.00 |
Examples only: shipped orders using Facebook checkout, shown with no separate shipping charge so the order total equals the item price. As of October 2026.
With buyer-paid shipping, the 10% is applied to the item and shipping together. A $30 item with $5 shipping is a $35 order, so the fee is $3.50 and you receive $31.50, before your own label cost. These numbers match our free Facebook Marketplace fee calculator.
Did Facebook Marketplace fees change in 2025 or 2026?
We found no change. The selling fee on shipped orders rose from 5% (with a $0.40 minimum) to 10% (with a $0.80 minimum) on April 15, 2024, and seller guides checked in 2026 still report 10% and $0.80. Local pickup has stayed free. Meta can change this at any time, and shipping checkout is not available to every seller or region. Our fee changes tracker follows updates across apps.
What about refunds, and Canada versus the US?
- Refunds and cancellations: we did not find a published rule for whether the selling fee is returned on a refunded order, so we don't state one. Check Meta's seller help text or your order details.
- Canada: we found no separate Canadian fee schedule. Shipping checkout is offered only in some markets and to some sellers, so you may find that local pickup is your only option. Check what your account shows.
- Payouts: the fee is deducted from the shipped order payout, so what you see in your account is already net of it.
Facebook Marketplace vs Mercari, eBay and Poshmark: which keeps more?
| Sale price | Facebook (shipped) | Mercari | eBay | Poshmark |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $8.20 | $8.20 | $7.15 | $7.05 |
| $25.00 | $21.70 | $21.70 | $20.11 | $20.00 |
| $50.00 | $44.20 | $44.20 | $41.71 | $40.00 |
| $100.00 | $89.20 | $89.20 | $84.91 | $80.00 |
What the seller keeps before the cost of the item, US standard fees as of October 2026, assuming the buyer pays $8.00 shipping and your label costs the same. Facebook's 10% applies to the order including shipping, as in our calculator. On Poshmark the buyer pays the label. Local pickup on Facebook is free, so you would keep the full price. The highest amount for each price is in bold; a tie is bolded on both.
On shipped orders, Facebook's 10% works like Mercari's, so the two keep about the same, and both beat eBay and Poshmark in this table. The big advantage is local pickup, where you keep everything. The trade-off is the buyer: Marketplace buyers often expect local deals and low prices, so bulky items sell best there. See our eBay fees and Poshmark fees guides, and the Whatnot fees guide for live selling.
How can you keep more on Facebook Marketplace?
- Sell bulky or heavy items for local pickup, where there is no fee and no label to buy.
- Skip shipping on cheap items. Anything of $8 or less costs the $0.80 minimum, which is a high share of a small sale.
- Bundle small items into one shipped order so you pay the minimum once.
- Meet in a public place and take payment before handing over the item.
- Compare platforms per item with the reseller fee calculator, and use a crosslisting app to post the same item in several places.
