How Mercari fees work in 2026
- Selling fee: 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping. Sales tax is not included.
- Payment processing: none since January 6, 2025.
- Buyer fee: buyers pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee, which doesn't come out of your earnings.
- Payouts: direct deposit is free ($2 if it fails); Instant Pay costs $3.
- Labels: Mercari's prepaid labels are paid by whoever you set to pay shipping.
Example
A $30 item where you pay shipping: Mercari takes 10% of $30 = $3.00, so you receive $27.00 before your label and item cost.
Selling the same item on more apps
Listing on several marketplaces sells items faster, but copying listings by hand takes time and risks selling one item twice. A crosslisting app posts one listing everywhere and removes it when it sells: compare prices in our crosslisting app comparison.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Mercari take?
10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. On a $30 item with free shipping, that is $3.
Does Mercari still charge a processing fee?
No. Mercari dropped its separate payment processing fee on January 6, 2025, so the 10% selling fee is the only fee on a sale.
