How much does TikTok Shop take from a sale?
For most US sellers, TikTok Shop takes 6% of the order. The base is what the customer pays, including the shipping they pay, plus any discount TikTok funds, minus sales tax. The fee is charged only on orders that are paid and delivered.
Only platform-funded discounts are added back to the base, so a coupon TikTok pays for doesn't lower your fee.

There's no fixed per-order fee, so the fee stays at 6% even on cheap items. That makes TikTok Shop one of the cheaper marketplaces for low-priced products, as long as you don't pay creators a big commission. These numbers match our free TikTok Shop fee calculator with shipping and tax set to zero.
How much do TikTok Shop affiliate creators cost?
When a creator sells your product through a video or live, you pay the commission rate you set in the Affiliate Center, on top of the referral fee. Sellers commonly offer 10% to 20%, and some go higher to win creators. A 15% commission on a $25 item is $3.75, more than double the $1.80 referral fee on the same order. Sales from your own account's videos pay no commission.
Budget commission into your price before you invite creators. At 6% referral plus a 20% commission, a quarter of the sale price is gone before shipping and product cost.
What happens to fees when you refund an order?
TikTok refunds the referral fee on refunded items but keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of that referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU per refund since May 15, 2025. On a $50 item, the referral fee is $3.00 and the admin fee is $0.60. There's no admin fee on refunds of creator sample orders, or when a buyer cancels before shipping and the order meets TikTok's auto-cancel rules.
When does TikTok Shop pay you?
Orders settle after delivery, as long as there's no open refund or return request. Payouts then go out automatically once your balance reaches $1. Plan your cash flow around delivery dates, not order dates.

- April 1, 2024: the US referral fee became 6% for qualified orders, replacing earlier promotional rates (sellers on promotional plans kept them until those ended).
- October 31, 2024: five fine-jewelry sub-categories dropped from 6% to 5%.
- May 15, 2025: the refund administration fee was capped at $5 per SKU per refund.
- August to October 2026: several seller blogs reported an 8% standard rate from August 4, 2026. As of October 18, 2026, TikTok's official US referral fee table still lists 6% for most categories. If your Seller Center shows a different rate, use that one.

How can you keep more on TikTok Shop?
- Price shipping honestly. The 6% fee is charged on buyer-paid shipping too.
- Set creator commission per product. Pay more on high-margin items and less on thin ones.
- Cut refunds. Each refund still costs up to $5 per SKU in admin fees, plus your return shipping.
